I'm borrowing a good friends .50cal flintlock Kentucky long rifle this fall and intending to giver' the good ol' "college try" for whitetails. I have fired the rifle before and plan to do some solid shooting before the season opens up. Anybody out there done the same or at least offer any advice into my venture?
Thanks,

I no longer have a flinter because of health issues, but did hunt a few years with them. The most important thing after getting it tuned, is the primer charge. Keep it dry and keep it fresh. Hunting from a blind or stand can help in this, I still hunted so needed to have it primed and ready as I went. More than once The lock had been bumped slightly and the power had been dumped. Good luck and have fun.
