Other than ducks and geese, what's your favorite bird to hunt?

i have only ever shot them in England but i have seen quite a few around where i hunt deer not 100% on whether i can shoot them or not im waiting for the guide to check on that

I'm almost 100% sure that's a "no"... you're sure you're not flushing snipe (which ARE legal)?

i have never flushed snipe in thick bush and am almost certain they are woodcock but you know how they flush just a flash of brown and they're gone

You're not thinking of grouse or partridge or the like? They fly up all over when I walk the trails where I deer hunt and they have a way of startling you.

Woodcock have scared the bejeepers out of me more times than I'm proud of.

Ruffed grouse is the one for me. Woodcock are fun and great training birds for my Britt but a ruffy is always a prize when shot on the wing over a pointer.
