Show your hunting gear.

I figured since there is a "show your stuff" section for fishing gear, might as well start on in the hunting section. For whatever you wanna post hunting related gear, Bows, Guns, Decoys, etc.

Here is my new bow i got last year. Mathews DXT set at 70lbs. I can't wait to get back into a treestand!

I've never tried bow hunting, but I know I couldn't stand to see a real big buck out of range. I'm sticking with rifle except this year I plan to go for a week of ML too.

I made this video last year to enter in a challenge. It shows some stuff- my rifle, stand, decoy...

Oh man SISIF you don't know what you are missing, bowhunting is my absolute passion above fishing and all else outdoors. Once you try it you'll be hooked. Not saying rifle hunting is easy but the challenge and thrill of getting that deer within bow range and making the shot is addictive. Now if I could only get an elk into now range :(
This is my small deer hunting pack, Bleat and buck growl calls, book, radio, gps and gloves...also buried in other pouches are you avg stuff...bottle of water, flagging tape etc.

100% agree, bowhunting is a blast and is a real challenge to get shooter deer in range.....this is where the old saying
comes into play "i'd rather be lucky, than good, anyday"

ugggh, i hate matthews

....he tried to come up couple times

...and from my bow stands last fall, had fun taking pics of small nuisance bucks...

...big bull elk from my bowstand...problem was I was moose hunting.... ...saw an even bigger bull, a massive nontypical, bugling 40 yards from me...for 5 min :x

Here's my APA Mamba 6.5 I got last year, it blows my other bows out of the water. If anyone is looking for a new bow don't forget to try an APA out before deciding. They aren't as well known as Mathews/bowtech/hoyt but they are a Canadian company, full of features other bows don't incorporate, wicked looking and blazing fast at a competative price.

Very impressive bear pics Brasso, nice to see 2 different color phases on your bait can. You hunt in Saskatchewan or Manitoba?
Manitoba, there are a lot of bears in the area, it's not uncommon to have ten bears feeding at the bait.
Nice pics Alex, looking at the bear pictures makes the anxiety of the shortened ice fishing season go away, damn weather.

That photo showing 3 different colors of black bears is priceless. How often will someone see something like that in their entire hunting career? WOW!

Thanks for starting this thread. Nice looking bow! Here's my favorite rifle...a custom Winchester Mod. 70 in .375 Ackley Improved. It will put 300 grain Barnes handloads into 3/4 inch groups all day long.

Thanks. Believe it or not, it's a laminated stock.

Hard to believe looks looks some high grade European walnut
It was from a AAA California Claro Walnut blank.
ever thought about stripping the varnish and oiling the stock my dad did it with a shotgun that wasn't as nice as that and when he was done it was amazing just a thought

I've done that on several guns over the years, mostly because I dislike the shiney varnished finishes on most factory stocks: not just because they reflect sunlight like a mirror, but they also hide so much of the woods character and grain. There's nothing like a good oil finish to bring out the beauty of wood...IMHO
