Global Television Cancels Hunting Shows from it's 2013 line-up

It is with great sadness that we announce the very unfortunate decision by Global Television/Shaw Media to cancel all hunting shows on Global and the Shaw affiliate networks.
Canada in the Rough™ has been airing for 8 years on Global Television and we've had a tremendous experience doing it. We want to thank all of you for your support throughout the years and as much as we hate to say goodbye, we have no choice. Canada in the Rough™, Canada's most-watched hunting show, will be pulled off Global Television after December 30, 2012.

Our hunting heritage is under constant attack by those who have forgotten that hunting is at the root of human existence and still the most valuable and effective tool in wildlife management.

If you wish to share your thoughts with Global regarding this decision, please email [email protected] as well as [email protected] and [email protected] or call 1-877-307-1999.

Please remember to enjoy the greatness of Canada and be proud of your hunting heritage.

Sincerely,
Keith Beasley, Paul Beasley & Kevin Beasley

You know, that is so (_______fill in your own word here because any I come up with just won't fly). It shows how intolerant some people can be. Perhaps if they were to take a little tour through a slaughterhouse their view on life would change a bit. Probably permanently damage some of them emotionally. The power that these anti groups have is truly discouraging. Even if every hunter were to email Global I doubt it would have any effect as I think that attitude has to start at the top there. And there are just too many sheeple that just don't care at all until someone steps on their toes.

Maybe it's because hunters are out hunting or just in general doing something. But it is nice to watch wild while at the inlaws

"Wild TV" shows are a joke a lot of times, especially their long range "hunting" genre, where they shoot game at half a mile away ......this camo clad "hunters". Great shooting-sniping but don't call it hunting !!! This sort of shooting should be reserved for target shooting, and not at living game. IMO the game we hunt deserves more respect then that.
Just wonder how they pick up the bloodtrail in case of a wound 700m away on the other side of the mountain? .....but those are edited, and as long as they get to plug and sell guns and amo, and whatever else through these sort of shows, who cares ????!!!!!.....sad)

I agree with brasso. I am not one to sit and watch 'reality' hunting shows. Hunting on a fenced in ranch, and having guys with cattle prods pushing world class bucks out into and open field for tv hunters to shoot at. Passing up on 160 class bucks because they know that a bigger on will be pushed out soon. Very sad IMO.

Sort of makes you wonder what the ethics of the producers are? I don't think they care. Just trying to fill air time with shows and especially advertising. You would think that some advertisers would shy away from supporting certain programming for ethical reasons. The dollar always seems to rule and then we wonder why the anti's have such an easy time against hunting in general. There's a saying, "Lead by example" and some of the shows and stations need to do that, not provide more ammo for the anti's. As well, we all need to do that in all aspects of our hunting and mentoring.

Well said. "Lead by example" of course, that's how it should be for sure, but it's not happening, I think some of these guys are the greediest most unscrupulous bunch of wannabes, and product whores. Some of their retarded shows do a lot of harm to hunting undoubtedly. Of course there are some exceptions but only a few and far between.

Anyone else trying to watch Canada in the Rough right now on Global? It's messing up graphically, and no audio.

Done.
I would suggest that everyone word their emails in a professional rather than an emotional manner. It goes way further. Remind them that you are a customer (if you are) of Shaw and that their decision will affect yours in staying a customer. Hit em where it hurts.

Follow up to "Global Television Cancels Hunting Shows from it's 2013 line-up"

Hello Canada in the Rough enthusiasts, due to the tremendous amount of feedback that we received from our last communication regarding the cancellation of all hunting shows on Global Television, we wanted to provide an update to help answer some of the commonly asked questions.

Canada in the Rough will continue to air on Global until December 30, 2012. If Global does not reverse their decision, Beasley Brothers Outdoors Inc. will continue to look for other network options to air Canada in the Rough but it is unknown at this point whether we will be successful in that pursuit or not.

It is widely believed that this decision started as a result of pressure from an anti-hunting group that urged its members to contact Global and complain about the hunting shows. For more information, go to http://www.vancouverhumanesociety.bc.ca ... n-hunting/

The following is a list of articles written about this travesty of our hunting heritage:

There is an online petition that you can sign to show your support of Global reversing this decision at http://www.tinyurl.com/stopshawglobal

The anti-hunting group that started this fight has created a counter-petition and in that petition they state: "It is our fervent hope that this will start a proactive trend in broadcasting communities globally!"

There is your proof and make no mistake about it. This is not just a battle affecting Canadians and this is not just a decision made by the executives at SHAW. Our hunting heritage is under attack by those who don't understand it and lack the desire to educate themselves. If we lose our right to broadcast hunting on national television, the anti-groups will get stronger and will not stop there. They will go after hunting across the world and will not stop until they've taken all of our privileges away. It's time to stand up and be counted. Complacency will not save our hunting heritage.

If you wish to share your thoughts with Global regarding this decision, please email [email protected] as well as [email protected] and [email protected] or call 1-877-307-1999.

From all of us here at Canada in the Rough, and on behalf of all hunters across this great nation, thank you for your support and remember to enjoy the greatness of Canada and be proud of your hunting heritage.

Sincerely,
Keith Beasley, Paul Beasley & Kevin Beasley

Thanks for the info. OK members, it's time to step up to the plate. Get everyone you know to do the same. Get them to join up here if they haven't already. It doesn't get any easier than with the info supplied here. Punch in a reply when you've signed the petition and emailed the contacts. Show everyone you care about your hunting rights.

FYI. Jason who started the petition has started a huge ball rolling. You can use the tools there to use facebook to invite your friends (15 per day) to also sign the petition. This will go viral within the hunting community across Canada and we number way greater than the anti's. We are going to win this!
