Is anyone able to provide me with an explanation of why Federal 30-06 Power Shok 150 Grain ammunition appears to be in short supply? This is the recommended ammunition for my Ruger 30-06 Springfield and what I have used to sight in my weapon. It seem like this ammunition is difficult to find.

Unfortunately everything seems to be either in short supply generally or hit and miss. As far as I know Federal isn't having manufacturing issues, they just can supply everyone. The U.S. market always gets preference because they're just bigger.

Buddy uses Federal ammo and he was having trouble finding his flavour last deer season too (may have been Power Shock). He ended up using something different and luckily in the end his 80 yards shot made it moot if he was off by 2 MOA or sumptin.

I'm zeroed with Sako ammo for my .308 and when I finally found some 180s last year before deer season, I bought a couple boxes extra. While it does nothing to easy the shortages for the masses, small scale hoarding when you find stuff is your friend.

Again, I might sound like a broken record... Heights has the great selection. Weather they have federal ???????, but they sure have a chit load of ammo just arrived.

Thank you for your reply to my question regarding Federal 30-06 150 Grain ammunition. I certainly understand that the U.S. market is larger. However, I would like to think that if Federal wants to supply to an international market, they would attempt to meet the demand for product. It would appear that I was wrong.

Thanks again!

Further to the conversation, I would think the only reason any rifle manufacturer recommends a specific brand of ammo is money in their own pocket... Ask any handloader. You will get alot of best in my gun recapies.

I'm sure they'd love to sell as much as people will buy. I know that some smaller manufacturers stalled completely for a while because they could not get components like primers. I'm guessing guys like Federal are prioritizing what ammo they produce. That said....30-06 still has to be one of the most common calibers.

The 30-06 calibre may not be that popular with today's gun buyers, but it is still considered one of the best big game rifles on the market. There still has to be many 30-06 in gun cabinets throughout the country. Thanks!
