What do you guys think is a better choice for a marsh boat... a square stern canoe with oar mounts for places like delta or a small topper jon boat??

depending on where you hunt a deep V 16ft is not out of the question. I would look at a modified V flat bottom boat in at least 16ft.

Canoe is ideal for smaller marshes and sloughs, easy to carry in and out, easy to paddle, and with a little balance they are very stable... I would opt for a canoe with a transom for the times you are in areas that allow the use of motors... I have a 17 with a 2.5hp fourstroke that pushes along at about 12mph, nice to have when you want to get across in a hurry...

Buddy and I feel into possession of a 10 ft jon boat last year. For small water, it has been great. We put a little electric trolling motor on the back and it gets us into most places we need to be. However, anywhere where you might experience a chop on the water you would want something bigger.
