Looking to get a .338 win mag, just looking for some insight and knowledge on the caliber or if there is something else that may be more well suited to my northern manitoba moose hunting needs.

Some can be heavy. But this is a true moose killer. Perfect in those bad situations. Efficent. Shells are common. Can kill from long range. Can save tracking and dragging out extra distance.

Excellent calibre for moose, elk and bear...can also be loaded down for deer if you like. Actually, there's nothing in North America that it can't handle. Depending on the rifle model, the recoil can be a bit stout, but nothing one can't get used to...I'd suggest starting out with lighter loads and lighter bullets, and work your way up to the full throttle loads.

The Nosler 225 grain Accubond atop a mild load of 67.5 grains of IMR4350 is a real tack driver in my old Tikka M65 Standard....dependable as taxes...
