Hands down...my favorite game bird.

I passed up three Jakes this year and not really so that I could get a Tom, although it was a bonus, but more so that I could hunt these awesome birds as much as possible. I woke up on the last morning of the season saying to myself, "Okay, NOW I can shot a bird". Fortunately the Turkey Gods where on my side and I managed to pull this guy out of a known strutting zone and into my shooting zone - 125yds or so. Strutting and absolute thunderous gobbling the whole way. If you've never seen the show it's really quite spectacular. You just can't get tired of this kind of stuff!

 Nice bird! Congrats. One of these years I'm going to have to try turkey hunting. So do you save him for Thanksgiving, or [glow=red:1916jhfz]gobble[/glow:1916jhfz] him up right away?

Any around ur neck of the woods Riggs?
They're all over the place. From time to time they even come into my back yard. Down the road from my home, there's a farm that borders a hardwood forest, and I've often seen a large flock of 40 birds and more out in the apple orchard feeding.
What did you shoot it with? I hunt with bow or shotgun and I can't reach out to 125yrds with either of them.

I think he's talking about how far the birds had to travel from where they were strutting, to where they were finally in range. :)
Thanks Riggs. I used the shotgun at about 20yds.
